Faithful Schools Eligibility Requirements
Read this before you apply. Faithful Schools connects Christian and community schools with a network of donors who fund one-time projects: classrooms, latrines, water, furniture, equipment. To be considered, a school and its organization need to meet the following.
The organization
- A Christian purpose: the organization exists to give children an education that instils Christian, Biblical values, and this is written in its constitution, statement of faith or founding documents
- A legally registered organization (charity, church, trust, society or company) that owns and runs the school
- A governing board or committee of at least three people that meets regularly and keeps minutes, and is willing to be named, with photos, in front of donors
- A bank account in the organization’s own name, with two signatories
- A named leader who is responsible for the school day to day
The school
- Biblical teaching and Christian character are part of school life: devotions, Bible lessons, and how teachers are chosen and children are cared for
- Operating for at least one full school year with children enrolled and teachers teaching
- Registered or licensed with the education authority, or able to show the application is in progress
- A written child-protection policy that every adult on the compound has signed
- Willing to share current student numbers, staff list and photographs
The land and the building
- The organization owns the land, or holds a lease or written right of use of at least ten years
- For building projects: a plan or drawing of what will be built, and a quote from a builder
- A picture of what the finished school is expected to look like
The money
- A project budget listing each item and its cost
- A statement of last year’s income and expenditure, however simple
- A plan for paying the school’s running costs after the project: fees, church support, farming, sponsors
- Some contribution from the community: land, labour, materials or money
What we fund
- One-time capital projects: classrooms, latrines, water, kitchens, furniture, solar, equipment, land purchase
- Not ongoing salaries, rent, feeding programmes or school fees
- Projects that will be finished within twelve months of funding
What we ask in return
- A seat on your board for a Faithful Schools representative, as a board member or board advisor, for as long as we support the school
- A short monthly financial report: income, expenditure, bank balance, and spending on the project
- A project budget and timeline kept up to date in this application, line by line
- Honest answers, and documents that show them
- Photographs and a short report when the project is finished
- Receipts or a builder’s statement for what the money paid for
Meeting these requirements makes a school eligible to apply. It does not guarantee funding. Faithful Schools reviews every application and decides which projects to present to its donors.
